About Us
-
As a social enterprise, we aim to have social efficacy by providing schools and institutions with different services.
-
Our services are offered by experienced professionals. Professionals with more than 20 years of experience include educational psychologists and clinical psychologists. Occupational therapists, speech therapists, drama therapists, social workers, etc., have more than 10 years of relevant experience.
-
We have provided services to more than 230 secondary schools, 93 primary schools and 29 social welfare institutions, such as St. Paul’s College, Clementi Secondary School, King’s College (Hong Kong), Sha Tin Government Secondary School, etc.
-
Through collaborating with seven universities in Hong Kong, namely The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Shue Yan University and The Education University of Hong Kong, we provide internship opportunities to work with children with SENs (special educational needs) to their students.
-
We employ SEN graduates via the Work Orientation and Placement Scheme organized by the Labour Department. Not only can they apply knowledge into practice but also contribute to society.
-
We organize the first ‘Elderly Teacher Scheme’ in Hong Kong. It allows elderly teachers to assist individual SEN students in catching up with the academic progress, provide counselling services, and share life experiences with the next generation so as to promote inter-generational communication.
Missions
We believe that each individual is unique.
Everyone is born to shine.
Students with SENs seem to have to pay more efforts than others in order to shine.
Rather than their own efforts, a supportive environment is of more importance.
We believe, with the understanding and acceptance from society and schools, support from parents, skills and knowledge from the professionals, and encouragement from peers, every student with SENs can be a shiny star.
Therefore, we not only provide tailor-made courses for students, but also strive to facilitate the communication between schools and parents, and strengthen SEN students’ social network. We further take up a social responsibility by recruiting SEN students. We hope to create a caring and inclusive environment.
Our logo design concepts
Our logo is a star which is formed by five people holding hands together. It represents through collaborations among five sectors including society, schools, parents, professionals, and peers, students can be the stars of tomorrow, and shine. There are five colours in the logo which represent our five different attitudes and values.
Red: Passion
Our colleagues are passionate about teaching. They teach students with love and believe that no child should be left behind.
Yellow: Hope
Besides providing professional training, we have to inspire students which allows them to see hope for the future.
Blue: Wisdom
Our colleagues identify the real needs of students and make appropriate responses to students’ emotional needs by their wisdom.
Green: Power
We believe each student is a seed which can germinate in any conditions because of its tenacious vitality.
Purple: Creativity
Instead of using traditional teaching approaches, we use creative ones to motivate students to learn and achieve their potential.
